MYSQL is a database like Microsoft Excel but its connected to the Internet.  It holds all the content of your dynamic website.  Our Content Management System is linked directly to this database and allows you to edit this content in the database.  Your website then reads this information and presents the content to your visitor.  We use a special dynamic language called PHP to allow you to make all these changes.   This is the nuts and bolts of a website in its simplist form.
